A post shared on social media purportedly shows a video of Queen consort Camilla revealing that she was born a man.

Verdict: False

The video was made with AI.

Fact Check:

President-elect Donald Trump has criticized Britain for the recent energy tax increase and told them to “Get rid of Windmills,” CNBC News reported. Britain’s Labour Party announced an increase of taxes by 38% on certain producers in the North Sea which will go towards their goal of ridding the use of fossil fuels, according to the outlet.

A post shared on Facebook allegedly shows a video message from Camilla revealing to the world she was born a man. The video starts with what looks to be British anchor Tom Bradby introducing Camilla to deliver a statement on her gender.

“I stand before you today with a heavy heart, deeply sorry for the deception,” Camilla then appears to be seen saying. “The recent revelations have undoubtedly caused shock and confusion. I was born a man named Steve.”

The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests this video is authentic. An AI detector, Hive Moderation, found that the video was 99.9% likely to be AI generated.

The original video was from Camilla’s video message that she shared on Armed Forces Day, as shared on the royals’ official website. The video shows her appearing exactly as she does in the Facebook post. However, the content in the post appears nowhere in the original video. (RELATED: Did King Charles III Unveil A Poster Labeling Benjamin Netanyahu A ‘Terrorist’?)

Artificial Intelligence is advancing and continuing to create more realistic images and videos. The New York Times reported recently that AI can “create picture-perfect faces, realistic photographs and now lifelike videos.” The report shared several examples of the possibilities.

This is not the first time a fake video has been shared as true online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim video authentically showed a fly on a Mars rover.
