An image shared on X allegedly shows a post from X owner Elon Musk saying he got President-elect Donald Trump elected and that Trump will do anything he tells him to.

Verdict: False

The claim is inaccurate. No such post can be found on Musk’s X account.

Fact Check:

Trump announced that Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy would co-lead a new “Department of Government Efficiency” once Trump takes office, though some believe Musk is already creating tension in the team, according to NBC News. Two people familiar with Trump’s transition team have said that Musk may be overstaying his welcome at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida as certain members of Trump’s team believe he is “overstepping his role,” the outlet reported.

An X image allegedly shows a Musk post saying that he helped win Trump the election and that Trump will do anything he tells him to. The photo appears to show a screenshot from Musk’s X account that reads, “Lib media already trying to create a schism between me and Trump, saying I’m overstaying my welcome at Mar a Lago, that I’m annoying him, ha!!! Trump and I are solid as can be. He knows I got him elected and he’s going to do anything I tell him to do.”

This image has been digitally fabricated, however. No such post can be found on Musk’s X account. Likewise, there are no credible news reports about Musk making this post. (RELATED: No, Elon Musk Did Not Announce A Water-Powered Car Engine)

Musk has posted positive things about Trump since he won the election. “He won the hearts and minds of the American people for good reasons,” Musk posted on Nov. 12.
