Verdict: False

The claim is false. A spokesperson for Pelosi denied she made the purported remark in an email to Check Your Fact.

Fact Check:

MSNBC host and former senior adviser to President Joe Biden, Symone Sanders-Townsend, accused Pelosi of engineering Biden’s “very public demise,” according to the New York Post. Sanders-Townsend also said Pelosi needs to share some of the blame for 2024 Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris’ election loss, the outlet reported.

The Threads post, which has received over 1,000 likes as of writing, claims Pelosi purportedly said Democrats would impeach Trump before he gets elected.

“So Nancy Pelosi stated today that if the Democrats get the house the first thing they’re going to do is impeach Donald Trump before he gets elected. I think she should retire,” the post, which was shared on Threads on November 6 and does not provide a source to support its claim, reads.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact did not find the purported remark referenced on Pelosi’s website or her verified social media accounts.

Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Nov. 8, PolitiFact debunked the claim. In addition, Trump does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim via his official website, his TRUTH Social account, or his verified social media accounts. Furthermore, Ian Krager, a spokesperson for Pelosi, denied she made the purported remark in an email to Check Your Fact.

“She did not say that,” Krager said of the claim made via the viral Threads post.

Although the claim is false, Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio previously said he thought House Democrats would start impeachment proceedings after Trump takes office if he won reelection, according to the same PolitiFact article.
