A video shared on TikTok claims singer Celine Dion’s family has announced that she is dying of stiff person syndrome.

Verdict: False

The claim is baseless. Check Your Fact found no credible news reports about Dion dying.

Fact Check:

Last month, Dion cancelled her world tour due to her struggle with incurable neurological disorder stiff person syndrome, according to The Independent. Dion is dealing with “severe and persistent muscle spasms,” but has stated that she is determined to perform again in the future, Today reported.

A TikTok video claims that Dion’s family has said that the singer is dying. “Celine Dion’s Family Reveals How She Is Dying…” text overlaid on the video reads.

This claim is inaccurate, however. The original video appears to have been posted to YouTube by an account called Culture Covered. The account’s bio indicates that it posts celebrity gossip.

It is true that Dion’s sister, Claudette, spoke to HELLO! Canada about her sister’s condition, saying, “There’s little we can do to support her, to alleviate her pain.” She did not, however, say that her sister is dying.

There are no credible news reports to verify that Dion’s family made this statement. (RELATED: No, Celine Dion’s ‘my Heart Will Go On’ Did Not Enter Billboard Top 100 After Titan Submersible Incident)
